I'm wondering if anyone will know the answer to this? Today I needed to get a simple ftp server working on a vista laptop, and couldnt. Now as a test i connected it to a xp laptop.

When the ftp server was running on the xp laptop, the vista laptop connected fine (test username/account created). Try it the other way, same settings. Nowt!

Now the vista laptop is ultimate and has just been installed fresh, so no norton etc etc blocking stuff all over the place. I tried it with the firewall turned off and the firewall turned on with ftp server allowed.

I'm stumped, anyone got any ideas what could be blocking the ftp server connections? Uac perhaps?

Any input would be great, i really need to get this working

have you checked the windows firewall? Vista will enable it by default

*edit* Ok, just saw you tried that already, ignore me

Have you checked to see if the program is vista compatible? Or tried running it in XP Compatiblity mode?

I had problems with Vista and XP, it was all to do with user accounts on the pcs with no password. Apparently because its insecure, vista has a strop and doesnt let it work. Doesnt actually tell you the problem, just doesnt do it. This may be what is happening.
