Hello chaps, been out of the loop for a good few years (last desktop was a Pentium 4!) using a laptop but have decided to go back to a desktop. No gaming/not interested in overclocking (although going for the k processor for resale value) on the system, main aims are an all round workhorse (current system is very bit sluggish with multitasking). Want to keep the system small and quiet hence mini-itx

Case/PSU = Lian Li PC-Q02 (300W PSU included) - £100
CPU = Intel i5 3570k - £170
Cooler = Scythe Kozuti / Xigmatek Praeton - £20-30
Mobo = Gigabyte GA-Z77N-WIFI - £90
RAM = 8GB Patriot Viper "Black Mamba" DDR3 PC3-15000C9 - £30
SSD = Crucial M4 or Samsung 830/840 - £80-90
ODD = Samsung Slimline Blu Ray - £35 (may forgo completely or go for the DVD only drive)

Budget about £500-600, OS/Keyboard&Mouse will be sourced separately.

THanks!

Thanks for the response.

1) THe PC17000, will the extra mhz offset the worse timings (c11) vs the PC17000 (c9)?

2) On mobo, I can get this

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-066-AK&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=2071

for the same price as the Gigabyte brand new from mate, worth the upgrade, seems to me to have better power phases and both HDMI and DisplayPort (niether of which are essential as my monitor is HDMi/DVI but nice to have flexibility). Anyone can opine on either of these two boards?

3) Any reason for the Intel SSD, I thought Samsung 830 was the king at the moment (closely followed by the Crucial M4) 128gb of capacity would be enough for me as I have an external 2tb for my media.
