A Misty River in black and white

Hey there, I just thought I'd post these, I took them earlier on today but they looked pretty shocking in colour so this was my perfect oppurtunity for a black and white scene.

Comments and criticism wanted, thanks.

i like the blackness of the pebbles in the first one in contrast with the detail in the bridge. the water has a nice eerie feel too.

the sky is a bit of a shame in the second one i think, just too much emptiness for my liking.

do like the black and white of both though, what was your conversion technique?

thanks for the comments so far, unfortunately the large amount of mist in the shot seems to have been lost in the 2nd one, it's a pity the sky was washed out. All I did with the photos was a bit of a levels play, contrast and unsharp mask then gradient mapped to get it to B&W.

They really work well in black and white, the first one is superb!
