Hi all,

Just a quick question. Is it normal for Amazon to take a month to deliver items?

Last night I ordered a couple of books from Amazon for the first time, and I've been given delivery dates which state that these books will arrive in 1 months time. Around the 7th of October.

What on earth is that all about? A month to deliver books?

I'm quite annoyed by this, as I couldn't find the books in Borders book store.

Thanks

you selected post when everything in stock, to get cheaper postage. However it would seem one of the books will not be in stock till around the 5th. You need to check when things are expected to be in stock and change delivery to post when each item is ready, although this will cost more.

I suppose it depends what the books are. I've ordered some through amazon and kept being strung along with emails saying they would be in stock in 6 weeks etc. That went on for months and they never came.

It varies quite a lot. The last thing I ordered arrived in 48 hours but it was wrong and two weeks later I'm still waiting for a replacement. :(

Aye sometimes it does if the items are out of stock. I ordered a pair of binoculars once as a present in around November one year & I don't think they came to maybe around February. They were so much cheaper though I didn't mind.

The books could be out of print and Amazon are allowing themselves a month to try and source them.
Amazon have been forced to contact the publisher who has in turn indicated a 3-4 week delay.
The books could be only available in say the US, so Amazon UK need to get things shipped accross.

Numerous reasons - I've waited a month before on books which I knew were out of print in the UK.
They still shipped from Amazon UK so god only knows how or where they managed to get them from but as usual one of the best online etailers did their job and got them for me.

They've taken 6 months to deliver me books I've ordered before. Apparently the author hadn't even bothered to finish writing it, the cheek of it. :p

It does vary a bit, some of the books I've order recently have stated 2 weeks, and then been dispatched the next day, others have taken a month. But then again they're not books I'm going to find in Waterstones or Borders so I'm just happy to get hold of them.

I ordered a book that said 4-6 weeks. 6 weeks was up and I got an email saying another 4-6 weeks. I think that's up soon. Oh well, I'm in no rush :)
