A new Sandybridge build for Video

I have no interest into getting into some nerdy benchmark ****ing contest, I'm simply saying that on average machines in my farm with hyper threading render scenes twice as fast as those without. And even a 25% difference if rendering is an issue is massive.

People who whine about multi cores and threads simply do not use them.

And I addressed the CUDA issue. Also, openCL will probably destroy CUDA soon.

Cookeh, are you saying I'm talking out of my behind?

Yes, I was.

I've never seen anything that suggest more than say 20% increase. You couldn't provide anything to back yourself up, so as we all established you were indeed talking out of your behind.

Similarly, comparing Core i5/i7 against SandyBridge is preposterous as its a different architecture so may well respond differently.

I will grant you that 20% is quite a significant deal when rendering though.

OP, if you want a 1GB CUDA based graphics card AND a 2600k, why not go for something like this??

Gives you your 1GB, and isn't exactly a slouch.

Be aware that the GeForce GTX 460 1024MB GDDR5 Graphics Card and indeed all of the 4 series Nvidea cards don't play nice with 3dsmax, viewport lock ups and framerate issues, artifacts etc. I myself talk from experience and am currently looking for a stable alternative, you have been warned. P.S the card rocks in Mudbox though!

Now thats a bargain!!!:D

and to the OP, just search Youtube for terms like, Nvidia cuda, adobe cuda and Autodesk cuda to see how gpu rendering can benefit you!!

heres a simple one to start with - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGLKYzBgp3c

woooooooooooooooooo

thats fast!!
so ATI cards a not capable of being used in that way?

i use after effects and cinema 4d all the time, would they be able to use an nvidia GPU but not an ATI GPU?
