report it to the police (they have to log it)
next time he does it wait up ,open the door and hammer the fool
right away ring the police and say that the same bloke hammered you door again and attacked you

Its nothing that bad tho, the flat I live in is perfect, quiet, good location, nice flat to live in.

The people above me make noise walking around, shutting doors etc, but its something I knew I could put up with when I moved in to the flat.

Bar putting rugs and sound proofing down everywhere (which in that case it should be him doing it to the ceiling surely?) I am at a lost as what will actually work.

KaHn

My flat was also perfect, quiet, good location, nice flat to live in. We owned it & so having dodgy tenent in there peed us more off. We have since sold it though & moved on

Just spoke to the anti social behaviour team and they have told me to contact to police.....

Will go in after work and get them to log down my first complaint and take it from there.

Will ring the landlord at dinner time if he hasn't contacted me via email.

I can see this being a right **** on :(

KaHn

:/ this is the anti social behaviour team's job not the police's!

Weird - good luck mate! Keep us posted on how you get on!

I must admit though... since nobber downstairs reported me to the police, he has been too scared to approach me about anything.

I have a log of noises he has made too and logs of the conversations I have had with the council, managing agency and the complainant - just in case I have to use them in the future. Turns out he has told a few porkies through my research - so best to make a note of everything ;)

Yeah will keep a log now, he seems like a true nobber so I don't think he would have made a complaint yet otherwise he wouldn't be banging on my door as that will just hurt his case.

The words the Anti-Social behavior team used were "I have no powers to help as this is a case of breach of peace, you will have to get in touch with the police, have no contact with the person in question and let the police take care of it."

Will be speaking to the landlord before talking to the police. Unless he doesn't answer his phone :(

Presuming he doesn't lock his front door when he pays you a visit...

Hide out of sight one night then when he goes to your place to knock on the door, get his keys if you can find them, lock the door from the outside and put the keys through the letter box, then hide again :)

Or just hide, wait till he comes back then confront him about it.

But definitely go with the webcam and logging it all....

Thin sheet of metal on the outside of the door connected to a battery or something? :D

I like it, i like it a lot!

So an early 40s guy playing knock a door run? strange. Could leaving a burning bag of crap on his door step then knocking on his and see if he finds that funny

Did this to a fat labourer slob who refused to use the site toilet and decided it was funny to pee on the side of the portakabin when people were having lunch (you can imagine the noise)

Anyway, we rigged up a piece of metal, slanted it against the portakabin and waited.. same time the next day we could hear him bumbling outside, next thing... OWWWWWW :D

This is fairly common behaviour for schizophrenics. They think they're heading noises/voices/music from next door and they go and bang on the surrounding doors. Strange that he runs away, but he doesn't seem all there.

Thats the problem with living in flats, get soundproofing under your carpets.

Yeah..just like that huh? You gimme the money and I will! :p actually the previous owner had a problem with the same guy making complaints so the Managing Agency sent a surveyor round who reported that there is nothing wrong with the structure and that the ceiling/floor was sufficently insulated/soundproofed.

Backed up with the managing agency saying that he is the only one in the whole block who has raised a complaint. no one else has had any problems in the street.

Exactly the reason why I bought a first floor flat and not a GF - if you want silence go and live on a farm!

Wouldn't you get woken up by the animals on a farm

:p

Some ideas

-Take the bulb out the light on the landing and remove last step on the stairs.
-Cover your door in foam (no knock noise).
-Invite him in for coffee one day.
-Put clingfilm over his door late at night.
-Cover your door in lambs blood.
-Check hes real, could be a ghost.

Buy a metal replica Spas12 and sit at the top of the stairs waiting for him.

I saw a deactivated old bren gun for sale for just over £150 a couple of years ago. This would work better i think

lol that is some funny schnitzel

Two questions:

1. How big is this fela?
2. Surely he has some sort of mental disorder if he keeps running off

Depending on the answers to 1 and 2 its pretty obvious which course to take.
