I have hear of them overheating and such, I am planning, eventually to get a shuttle so what would be the best GT to go for in terms of single slot fan..?

I need single as I intend on using an add in sound card with the shuttle.

THanks

I've not had any trouble with mine overheating, I'm running an antec 1650 case with only a single 120mm exhaust fan. Room temp is normally around 22c and the case temp is around 35c-40c.

Just buy one with the new improved stock cooler. It has a larger fan and cools perfectly well. The old cooler with the smaller fan tended to overheat.

the asus one has a new bigger cooler as stock now,

i got one 2 weeks ago

looks nothing like the picture on the website, it has a huge new cooler on it

As long as it's stable it's fine tbh. People think it's overheat when they see 90Cs but actually they can take a lot more than that. The original stock cooler is sufficient, it runs hotter that's true but it doesn't overheat. Even if it does you can easily increase the fan speed in riva tuner, even by 10 or 20% it will run a lot cooler and still inaudible. Otherwise you can always remove the cooler and reapply decent thermal paste which will definately sort the temp out. Therefore I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Got the original stock cooler on my Asus GT (the small piddly fan), and still have the fan on auto, never had any probs with it at all, totally fine.

Looked at the GT and the heat issues have put me off buying one, now getting the new 512 GTS which does run cooler thanks to a better cooling system on the card...

I have found the stock cooler on my BFG 8800GT to be very good. Around an 11% (each) on shader/core/memory, on top of BFG's overclock and its still holding strong.

As i say, if the heat and fan on auto speed was going to be an issue, then Nvidia wouldn't have done them like that. :)

That may be so, but I was never happy knowing my GT was running almost hot enough to boil water. It just isn't right. (94'C)

No longer has stock cooler and temps about halved.
