But a happy one for M3 owners, I'm sure :D

The ST has gone, and apart from the Strada, the fastest thing I own now is a V6 Mondeo :(

On the bright side, as a cheap, comfy family car its immediate replacement is a dream (well, as must as a cheap, generic hatchback can be). MK2 Focus 1.6 (115), 40K miles and absolutely mint, it even has matching premium tyres on each axle.

I'm still no closer to figuring out what I would like to replace the ST with for myself, either :/

A Focus 1.6 is a 'dream'?

Sounds like a 'nightmare' if you've woken up and your ST is now a 1.6.

Go on then, how much for the 1.6?

For its intended purpose, its brilliant. Its returning nearly 40MPG (according to trip computer), has already saved me £300 in insurance and is a fair bit comfier. I'm not even missing the power yet, as 99% of the time I potter around slowly anyway.

I do worry about when I start yearning for my weekly fix of B-road blasting though :(

I paid £4200 for the 1.6, with a years warranty.

As much as I was crossing my fingers for some sort of epic MikeH car-crash style thread I have to say that £4200 for a Mk2 Focus sounds pretty good to me.

Did you get screwed on the tradein?

No, I did alright on the trade-in, too. I'm not as stupid as you'd like to think I am :)

I benefited from someone actually wanting the ST for stock and my local dealer being able to transfer the car from the same dealer at cost. It pays to have a dealer that your entire family have been loyal to since before time began.

I essentially paid cost + transport/prep + warranty for the new car, and got book for the ST. Winners all round.

Whats happened to Ford prices recently? Have their new retail prices dropped and put the 2nd hand prices down? Cheapest price for a 2005 Focus 1.6 115 Zetec with about 30k miles when i was looking a year ago was about £6000.
