It is with great regret with which I come to inform you that Tabasco in Tesco is now £2.50 per miniscule 57ml bottle.

In spite of buying probably hundreds of these over the years, I cannot justify this price for such a tiny bottle. We have to move on.

So my question isssss... what shall I replace it with? Don't say Sriracha please because I hate that ****.

Something which is cheaper, has a good kick and a nice amount of flavour - NOT Encona! I like it, but it's not the same thing.

Ideas?

Yeah hate to say it but think Tobasco was pretty overrated IMO.

The only time I really liked it was in soup.

You could make your own, but unless you are growing your own chillis I dont think it would be cost effective. I watched a youtube video on making tobasco and vaguely remember it sits in barrels for ages as part of their process.

Is this the same on on No.8 on Hot Ones?
Yea that's the one. I bought a bottle a while back. It was pricey at 15 quid but it packs such a great punch! For the ultimate hit have it on its own but it's more common for me to mix in a couple of drops into some mayo and sweet chilli sauce to give it a a great kick.

Yup when your grow up you'll realise getting ultra hot sauce to see if you "can take it" is really a pointless exercise (unless you can't, then you know you are a pussy) but really you want a sauce that has the fragrant and tropical fruity flavour of chilli with a bit of heat to add to your food.

Frank's Red Hot Original is really nice and pretty cheap. IMO its better than Tabasco, it's also amazing on a burger.

Agreed.

You know what is good, deep fry a load of chicken wings lighted coated in cornflour.

Then take them out put them into an oven dish with some finely chopped spring onions and give them a good coating, put them in a mild oven (like 100c) for about 15 minutes somrhe sauce cooks into them.

Serve with salad a corn on the cob.

Booooooooom.

Actually the best for doing chicken wings I've found so far is the "Reds" Buffalo Hot Wings Sauce, you can get it in Tesco I'm guessing other supermarkets etc.

It does have chillies in it, but I wouldn't consider it a chilli sauce as such.

Franks extra hot if you prefer hotter. The original is best

Bottle too small you say, buy like this, its what I do

I steralise some wine bottles and decant into them for medium term storage.
Then when I run out of small bottles I decant a wine bottle amount to refil my small bottles.

I've been eating hot sauces for decades my boy. I know exactly what is a good flavoursome sauce and what isn't. I get the whole "let's see if you can take it" stuff and maybe in my younger days it was funny to have a few drinks with my mates and then get the hot sauce out. Those days maybe gone but there is nothing wrong with having a banging hot sauce to add some fire to something like a chilli.

Even though you shouldn't neck it Da bomb is a decent sauce that can can be used to add depth to a hot sauce or covering for hot wings or chicken thighs with the added bonus of blowing your head off if you want to.

Just discounting it as some basic party game dare shows little knowledge of chilli sauces.
