On the drive home after seeing my girlfriend last night I had a bit of an off in the Fiesta ST.The car pulled to the left I didn’t catch it in time and I ended up hitting the kerb at about 60 and ended up in a ditch. Amazingly there isn’t a scratch on the body work! However I’m pretty sure I’ve bent the suspension. :( And ive wrecked the alloy. Just off to my mates garage to get it on the ramp to see exactly whats happened.

Although I can seeing this being an insurance job :( and if so I doubt ill be able to keep the ST at renewal time.... Gutted :(

Pics to come soon.

off (of'f) adjective [Posh: Orrrf], Mysterious state of tyres reported by drivers prior to 'losing it'. Usage: "My tyres went off and I lostit". Also noun: off, losing control, leaving the circuit or the road way. Usage: "I had an off." is preferable to losing it or crashing as it implies no responsibility on the driver's part.

I'm getting a bit worried about this as someone on the owners club site wrote off their car a few weeks ago speaking of the same problem, all of a sudden pulling to the left and into a tree, would be good to see if your mate could see anything that had failed pre-accident (if possible).

Glad you're alright though, hope you get back on the road soon.

phone ford crc bitch like No swearing, enjoy your holiday. and threaten to go legal on their asses :) :)

jsut tell them what happened say your life was put in danger by what by all intensive purposes is a faulty product and demand repair and compo :) :)

oh and ask for some sort of gwg (if they send one it could be viewed as an admission of liability(and yes i used to work in ford crc stick it to the b*****ds

Yeah I read about that :( . Off to the garage at 0930 so ill let you know how it goes. What hurts even more is I had the car serviced and the tracking done yesterday morning :( waste of money that was lol

If there was a a steering failure then my first line of investigation would start with the tracking and whether the rods were properly tightened.

My thoughts exactly we will have a good luck. Although it could be complicated as my dad was the mechanic that worked on the car as he works for ford. :(

Everyone makes mistakes we are only human. Probably wasn't but just worth checking before you drive it anywhere.

sorry to hear about the accident.

slightly ot, its 'funny' how people take themselves to the limit in terms of a car an insurance, knowing that a fault accident will mean having to sell the car the next year.
why not just wait :/

Unlucky mate. I love the Fiest ST's too.

I would imagine you could be looking at a new wishbone / anti roll bar. If the suspension is gone i would be suprised.

The wishbone is there to take the force, to save bending the chassis, etc.

Good luck.

Ouch, bad luck woodsy.

To make you feel better, though, I can't see the accident making a big difference come renewal time, unless you've lost an importantly large portion of NCB :(

pics yet?

out come of trip to garage?

Yep sorry for the delay...

Luckily it's not as bad as we first thought. Looking at two new rims for the front, new front strut ?, and new cross member off the top of my head. Don’t have the exact list with me and I’m not that mechanically minded, however the repair bill is looking more like £600 and not £1600 so won’t be claiming on insurance. Could have been so much worse. Went back to where I went off and I was lucky not to hit a tree and a dry stone wall!.

My name was on the page but not at the top that night!

Looking at the roadsurface its very uneven and due to the wet conditions probably didnt help things however both myself and the garage are still at a loss why it pulled suddenly to the left. It could have been standing water although I dont recall any I'm just glad both myself and the car got away with it without to much damage.

i could have been some standing water.... i hit some standing water in my fiesta the other day down a country lane, and nearly ended up in the ditch also.... but I'm sure you would have noticed that?

If i had been changing gear with one hand on the wheel i would have certainly wrote the car off, as the lane was in a dip between two large earth verges and trees/bushes.

I would have thought so!

I dont have any pictures at the minute as the body work is somehow untouched so there isnt allot to look at ill be pulling the rims off soon ill make sure I grab a few pictures of them as they are in a bit of a mess.
