Hey guys

Just a small tip for you lot

Never, and I mean NEVER delete your CV off of monster

I did last night as I'm in a job now and don't need them, totally forgot my CV was on there until I got a call yesterday from an agency who found me on there. So deleted my CV last night

This morning I get a call at 8 asking me why my CV was deleted and how they have plenty of roles available would I consider any of them

"Err no, thats why I took my CV off, I don't need you"

Wierd I thought, one off perhaps, but since then, I have had 16 emails from different agencies, 23 missed calls and 11 voicemails

I mean ffs, they don't make any effort when I am actually looking but as soon as I don't need the idiots they all start hounding me

And the thing is, a lot of them aren't even relevant job, strawberry picker up north on 2k a year or something. Ok slight exaggeration but you get the idea

Anyone else had this?

And just as I'm typing this, another call is coming through :/

Agencies, honestly, scum of the earth the lot of them

OMG seriously!?

We use Monster to recruit and don't receive notifications such as this.

Read the Terms you signed up to... and definately say something to them, as I am pretty sure that they are contravening the Data Protection Act.

That's bang out of order.

Agencies are the scum of the earth for having a lot of employers get in touch with you?
I thought that was the idea!

If you read the post, it's the fact they haven't bothered for the 8 months I've been on there looking, as soon as my I close my account, they start hounding me even when I tell them I'm not interested

as i'm using monster to find jobs.. maybe i SHOULD delete it.. hmm.. might give it a go soon

but yeah its wrong if they're focusing on you once you delete it

I fully agree with this statement.

But I must admit I had more problems when my CV was on there, than since I deleted it off.

It's not always a bad thing, I got a mate, he got a job through monster when he was made redundant on 3k more than before bringing him up to 27k, a few months later 2 jobs came up, one was on more money yet £30k a year and in swindon, the other was on 38k a year and in chippenham.
He took the job in chippenham, 11k aint peanuts.

[1] Call up the agent - Speak to him/her find out if they have a genuine vacancy and that he/she will be happy to forward your CV on to the client. Get the agent on your side (this will be only time you'll need to be nice to them).

[2] Providing you're satisfied with [1] send them your CV.

[3] Never spam agents with your CV. Never put your CV online.

I rarely get calls from agents but the first question I ask them is as to how they got my details. The conversation always ends in sorry my day rate is 40% higher than what you are offering so bye bye. 2 minutes later you'll receive an email from them.

"Hi Joe, It was really great chatting can you send me over a CV"

This is where you delete the email

If you're really good and people know about you, clients will approach you directly without the need for agents. The only time I will need an agent is when working for investment banks where the agent will make around £50 a day off me for not having found me a job but for being a legal buffer between my business and the bank itself.

I'd be interested if this keeps happening to people because there must be a reason for it and if it does I will report them to the appropriate authorities.

LOL Still calling

I have just been out the office, come back to my phone to check, 46 missed calls :/

BrightonBelle, who are these authorities you mention, I wouldn't mind speaking to them myself. As they are mostly blocked numbers so can't even ring them back to tell them to **** off

I assume this is more contract work than permy stuff that a lot of people would use monster for, but yes, what you've described is the way to handle it.

Have you emailed Monster direct?
