A8N ALI Deluxe Chipset fan failure

Contact ASUS, but to save yourself a load of hassle i would just buy a zalman passive northbridge cooler that can be had for a few pounds. But i understand that you have paid a lot of money for something that does not function correctly.

Happened to me. ring them up. press something like 2 for barebones. Ask for a new one. All comes as free as I think the new mobos come with the fan anyway. So I think you like me have one of the old ones.

They'll send it through free of charage. FIt it. Fits at a funny angle but its ment to. plug in. bobs your uncle. fannys your aunte. Lovely job's a gooden

problem with the zalman is that is a quite a heafty cooler and i know for a fact that on the a8n sli-deluxe most new breed gfx cards overlap the chipset fan, meaning that you would have to bend the pins on the cooler, wich i'd rather not do, i bought the Vantec iceberg vga and chipset cooling solution and my chipset temps are a icey cool 27c! happy with that

So Ill have to get a replacement fan from ASUS then? No other options, I assume it will take an age for ASUS to turn around a replacement?

Didn't take long at all, they get it straight in the post. I rung up twice and ordered two because i'm cheeky, so now I have a spare.

Also I think hes right when he says the heatsink on the northbridge will get in the graphics cards way. i ahd to take my card out to fit my new fan. I wouldn't like to buy a tall heatsink and try fixing it. Not really be bothered to take off my case panel to see. I'm sure it'll be a bad move.

I have a similar problem. My chipset fan sounds like it's about to crap out on me and I'm running a Leadtek 7800GTX which has a heatsink leaving a gap of 2-3mm *at most* between the chipset fan and the vid card's heatsink.

I've heard the vantec fans are rather loud as well so I figured I may as well just get another from Asus and pop that on until I can find a better solution.

Actually the best solution would probably be to buy a A8N32-SLI Deluxe which doesn't have the stupid chipset fan, but then I'm not made of money! :D

Replacement fans look different (so they must have realised and redesigned them), they are a lot queiter than the original one that came with the board. You do have to take the board out to fit it which is a bit of a pain .... but i've not had a problem since my replacement was fitted 2 months ago.
