I have just put together the following
A8n32 SLI , 2 GB of Cosair xms 4000 memory, 200 GB WD IDE HDD, 2 X 7800 GT running in SLI. Hyper 580 Psu Modular.

BIOS is runing 1007 I believe.

trying to install windows xp pro. What happened firstly It was able to get to the end of the format and Poof- NTL DR is missing on the first restart, I already disabled ACPI as I had issues with this board it needs a bios update later in windows for it to work properly.

So I thought it may be IDE cable, reseated and I have made sure it was set to master, I think It may have been on cable select. tried again, this time IRQ_Not less or equal during the format STOP error again!

I finally got windows to go futher in the installaiton now by REMOVING as a stick of the ram. So I believe its this that is cuasing the problem. AS Iam typing its its now in the GUI bit, so I think a bios update is most likely in order.

I would be interested if anyone has heard of the asus being picky over memory. I just hope I dont have a duff stick of ram.!

I was having similar issues with my recent build

Abit AN8 SLI
1GB Corsair PRO 3200LLPT
2 x Gainward 512MB 7800GT's

Turned out to be a dodgy PSU (was an antec truepower jobbie). Replaced that with a hiper 580W and all was ok.

Maybe you got a duff hiper PSU?

Windows is now installed

I have gotten into windows now with the 1 GB of ram running in 1 slot. After it completed I inserted the 2nd stick, and it bluescreened.

Def a ram issue now not hdd. Next step will be the bios update. I am using a Hiper 580 and should be more than enough juice for this system. I have built two machines with this same board without this issue. Major diff is that I got the Value memory from corsair Gonna try the ram in my other system and run memtest I think
