A8Vdeluxe & 5 drives?

i have the above mobo and was wondering how (if its possible) to connect 3 ide hdd's.

i've got 2 dvdrw's and 2 hdd's running off the primary and secondary at the moment.

i've connected a 3rd drive to the raid port and enabled it in bios but still windows cannot detect the drive.

do i have to install the raid drivers eventhough i don't want to use raid? if so then is there away of installing them without using a floppy as i don't have 1?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it formatted / partitioned?

Access Disk Management in Windows XP by right-clicking on My Computer, left-clicking on Manage, and then left-clicking on Disk Management.

If you see the drive there, you need to Initialize and format it.

Do you mean the RED ide port on the mobo?

If yes then you have to set the promise controller to IDE mode.

Think the default in bios was Sata mode.

done that but still not seen :confused:

i've taken 1 of the dvdrw's out and put the 3rd IDE drive as slave and now i can see it but i'm now with only 1 dvdrw

Just remembred you need to install the Promise ATA drivers from the cd, only just thought of that, thats why you cant see your HDD.
