Abit AN8 help

Hi,

My brother has bought an abit an8 nforce 4 ultra board from the bay and an opteron 146, has put it together but it won't post. Because it's a pre san diego a64 revision board we think it night be the bios that is out of date, is there anyway to flash the bios with the opteron or no cpu on board? I can't even use my cpu as it is a san diego as well.
 
is no cpu's are avilble i suggest you look for a bios chip only and replace it or.............

go to purple shirt land buy a cpu use it then take it back
 
I have an AN8 Ultra and started off on a 144 Opteron. The BIOS hadn't been updated since June when I got it in January, not sure if thats any help but it ran straight away without a hitch. Had to update the BIOS for my X2 of course, but it ran my Opteron without a hitch! Check the codes on the readout and check them on another computer on the Abit website, when mine wouldnt' post after the X2 I maanged to work out that my monitor had died, because the post codes were normal!
