Abit IB9 IDE sata bridge?

Just got this board, having a problem trying to install Win XP.
When trying to install it comes up with a screen saying if you see this message again it might be your hardrives corrupt?
Iv got a 400GB sata Hitachi HD, its showing up in the bios.
And a sony IDE CD/DVD drive.
Ive heared i need to install come IDE to SATA bridge to install Windows can anybody ellaborate?

If you're installing from your IDE CD/DVD are you F6 ing the ITE controller driver during the XP install?
