abs light stays on after starting the engine up on my vectra. Will it fail the mot because of this? Mot not due until june. How much will it cost to fix it?
Will be keeping the car until april 2009.

thanks.

yes, a lit abs light will fail the MOT test. It could be a failed abs pump or wheel sensor, it needs to have its fault code read to see which component is causing the problem. My Xedos 6 does light its ABS light but I can manage to get the light out again by turning off the engine, waiting 5 seconds and then it will go out. My Xedos 6 is going to my local council test centre in 2 weeks time and I have checked that as long as I can make the ABS light go out it will pass the MOT, ( I work for the council and know most of the mot/taxi testers ).

It's more than likley a sensor on one of your wheels has gone. It may just have a bit of mud or dirt on them. One went on my golf and it wasn't to expensive think about £20 for that part...

My girlfriends Xantia did this, I jet washed the wheels prior to the test and the light went out, it passed!

About 20 minutes after the test, on the way home, the light came on again! :D
