yes folks...you read rigth
I think after all my research on how to cool the 4890 I sould share this with you guys..
I bougth a powercolor plus 900/4000 from overclockers uk..and as you know the stock cooler is very loud on full load. I first tried the Akasa vortex
wich took the temperature down from 60 idle to 50 and 85 load to 75 about the noise level on the Akasa is very silent at idle and a bit noisy at load ,but much less than the standard cooler..
Anyway on an restless sunday I decided to take off the accellero s1 rev 2 (with turbo module) from my HD 4850 and put it on the 4890
with the ram heatsink as well..and voila' I'm in paradise...I could not beleve the temperatures...idle 38 and load about 55 this on a warm summer day afther two hour of arma 2..the turbo module spins at 1500 RPM and are very very quiet much more that the Akasa Vortex if fact they are virtually silent one of the two fan blows on the RVM's which temp are down from the stock cooler..no heat sink on the RVM as yet and the other fan blows on the memory small heatsink wich temp are down from 67 stock cooler at idle
to 60c. but this is at full load
(this are the small blu akasa heatsink from overclockers as well)
Zalman ZM-RHS1 Silent VGA RAM Heatsink Kit
the accellero s1 rev 2 come with some heatsink but you need a smaller one
othervise it touch the accellero front side..
I used the mx2 as termal paste
my overclocked E6600 @ 3000 is gone from 30.c to about 34c. so you need a good ventilated case this becouse the accellero dont blow the hot air outside the case and my case is not a very good one..but if you have a good ventilated case ... the accellero s1 rev 2 is the best cooler you can have on a 4890
Artic cooling says the accellero s1 rev 2 it is compatible only with the 4850 and 4870 but this is becouse they have other models to market...in fact the Accelero Twin Turbo is the same but with a smaller heatsink
anyway the accelero s1 rev 2 is quite cheap
and the two 80 mm fans are virtually silent .
this should be a review on the accellero but overclocker dont sell it any more
but you can still buy it in over the internet.
