Hi Guys

I've recently finished my AAT and have since applied to study ACCA.

With me being a student member of the ACCA is there any benefit of also paying to be a member of the AAT aswell or should i just stop renewing? I've recently started helping my girlfriend out who does some payroll/book keeping work out and she's recently been trying to get new business by mentioning that I’m AAT registeredt (she has no relevant qualification) This is making me wonder if I should keep paying

Well i looked to see any specific threads about ACCA but on searching i came accross this which seemed as good a thread as any to bump.

I've just got my results for the last 2 of the 12 exams i've sat since creating this thread and i've passed.

Just need to finish some paperwork and i'll be a qualified accountant :)

I got 2 fails by text today, one I was expecting but the other is a blow :(

Makes me doubt if it's really for me, you got through yours quite quickly! Did you sit 2 exams a go and pass them all?

I sat one the first time as i was getting married in Dec 11 so decided against trying two. It was also the first bit of studying i'd done for a little while so eased myself in.

Thinking about it i i've sat 11 exams, not 12 as i had exemptions from F1, F2 and F3.

Which ones did you fail?

I think it's always good strategy to try and group exams which compliment each other together and try and do one big and one smaller one, although this isn't something i really practised as i did 2 papers which each had 5 tuition sessions in the same sitting!

I failed F9 which is one I actively studied for, I must have misunderstood a question because I was comfortable enough going into it.

F4 law is the other one, I hate law. Find it so boring. They're changing it to Computer Based from November I think so I'll sit it then.

Keep AAT subscription until you are fully qualified in ACCA. No question.

Just be glad they don't do the exams like they used to - final 3 (still keeps me awake at night thinking about it!)
