ACD 24" price drop when 27" is launched?

When do apple drop their prices then?

e.g. when a new iphone/ipod comes out - when do the old ones get sold cheaper?

Apart from the iPhones, they tend to just stop selling the old models. So the only way to get them cheaper is from the Clearance Section on the Apple site or second-hand.

I can see the 27" being the same price as the current 24, but you'll need to look on eBay or the refurb store on Apple.com, for the discounted 24's.

So if i want the 24" on education discount, i should buy it before the 27 comes out?
(saying this because the education store doesnt seem to have any displays).

Yes, both the 24" and 30" ACD's will be discountinued come the release of the 27" ACD.

The 24" is still for sale with a 24hr delivery shipping time, so if you want one and it has to be new, get it now before Apple release the 27" in September.

Snooze and you lose. :D

There's none in stock on the refurb section.
What i now believe to be true is that once the 27" is out, that stock will be full of the displays that are currently being sold?

On a side note - how do you find yours huddy?

I'll be running it with a 460 with a displayport - mini displayport female adapter.
Pretty confident it should work (i'll be upset if it doesnt!).

Correct, none on the refurb store. But you said you looked on the educational site and they had no stock. Well when I checked at the time of my first reply they did have stock. You will find them listed under the Mac Accessories / Display Graphics link.

They are a nice monitors, but lack connectivity, ergonomics and OSD. I would make sure that they work with a 460 without the need for an expensive converter. I know you need one with the ATI 5850/70.

Huddy,

Sorry to be a PITA - but can you do be a big favour?

I would like to be able to control the screen backlight on the ACD (not alter the image like nvidia/ati brightness setting would do).

Here's a guide on how to do so: http://discussions.info.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=11784873

Can you tell me if this works?

Bootcamp: http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/505..._Windows_32bit__amp__64bit_(from_Snow_Leopard
(contact me if you dont want to d/l the torrent & i'll upload the zip).

Thanks

if you could let me know i use 24" acd on windows pc and looking for drivers for the usb hub sound and isight cam...

i can use it in win7 on macbooks etc on bootcamp just not on the windows based pc the drivers dont appear to work so maybe if you have them if you could extract the file and email a link for the zip please..

I no longer have a 24" ACD, the information I have provided is from memory only.

I know that installing the full Bootcamp drivers to control brightness on Win7 was not possible for me, any changes to the screen such as brightness/saturation/colour etc had to be done through the ATI/Nvidia control panel. It was a real PITA.

As for the USB hub and iSight camera, I believe that worked from the off, Windows 7 installed the drivers without me needing to provide any from the Leopard Bootcamp drivers. Just make sure you have connected the USB cable from the monitor to your PC.

Sorry guys thats all I can really help you with.

Was this because bootcamp wouldn't install or some other reason?

Extracting the bootcamp exe allows you to run the msi file which installs bootcamp on any windows pc.

Thanks

ive run the bootcamp in my windows pc i use 64bit at boot up it freezes for a few seconds after i type in password (i use ssd drives as boot) maybe 5 seconds,,

bootcamp appears in control panel but wont open/load also the nvidia now wont open as it says mistmatched display try reinstalling drivers etc.. still shows corrct card and other hardware.
allthough i now have the apple keyboard icon by clock and my default keys have changed over ie

and now i cared to read the links given above

as i create a standard user account yes bootcamp now works and i get the display setting change slider
ala screen shot. still nvidia control dont work, so end result bootcamp may indeed work in win7 as standard user. but no for admin methinks.
