hi.
is anybody using an acer widescreen monitor with xbox 360.
are colours slightly washed out,as i think you can only use vga cable with this monitor.
at the moment i am using a crt monitor and colours are a little washed out.
i am thinking about buying the acer monitor.
cheers ian.

Yeah i've been getting that with my Flat Screen LG Flatron L1715S, i've been playing Oblivion with it and the colours are very washed out and you can notice so many defects with the draw distance on oblivion, its ridiculous, i found the image quality better on a normal TV!

Weird, i was so disappointed!

Sorry i cant be of much help, thought i'd share my similar experience with you. Hopefully others can help??

Cheers.

Mine looks really washed out on a Dell 2005FPW if the output resolution in the dashboard is 1280x720.

Have to select the next one up for it to be ok.

The general cenus is with the VGA colour, the image quality is sharp but the colours are a little washed out. With component, the colours are more vivid but not as sharp as VGA.

I'm using a 26" Acer LCD and mine too has washed out colours using the VGA cable. Again, its sharper than component but the colours are much better using component.

It is wierd. I noticed washed out colours connecting VGA to a TFT, but when connecting VGA to DELL LCD HDTV and Samsung and Haier Plasmas colours looks superb :/

As far as the Acer goes, I have that as a PC monitor and its great. I've used it as a backup for the 360 and apart from the washout as per above it does a pretty good job. In fact the colours were better on the acer than an LG I tried it with. I think it helps that the native res is only 1440 x 900, so theres not all that much scaling going on.

Has to be said though that an x360 looks quite ordinary on a monitor - its a big TV screen that makes it shine.

hi.
thanks for all the info.
i think i might beg steal or borrow and get a hdtv.
any thoughts on what to buy.
up to £700.
cheers ian.

I was reading about this monitor somewhere, and people generally say its washed out, and on other monitors as well. Although i've only read good things about the packard bell maestro 19" widescreen monitor, supposedly the ability to adjust the settings means you can get a great picture.

With the VGA cable it looks like when you increase the gamma on your PC.

Games like PDZ have a setting in the options where you can adjust the brightness of the game. It has an option for LCD and when you select it the colours look fine.

Unfortunately, not all games have this option.

Depends, if you want a screen that you can use as a fantastic Pc monitor the best option seems to be the LG 26LX2R, as it offers 1:1 pixel mapping. Its also great for xbox as it has component input.. but its not brilliant for normal tele unless you have some sort of digital at least.
