WOW £350 is a lot for this monitor! I bought one back in february for £320. Any reason why they are 30 quid more now? They suffer from backlight bleeding pretty bad, and Acer don't replace them for it. It's vertical viewing angles are pretty bad too, your eyes have to be in line with the bottom of the bezel to be able to get a consistent level of brightness over the screen.

Been after for a 24" for a while now, as I'm currently using the Acer 22" H223HQ. I would get this if it weren't for my budget. I'm also not sure about the colour, although it would be a great alternative to my current all black set-up. The price is reasonable as well for those complaining - I've seen it go for 400-410 pounds on other sites.

I am tempted by the H234 you have on offer this week, the contrast and size is greater than my current but I'd like 1920x1200. Decisions, decisions... I might just fork out some extra for this screen or sell my other.

WOW ONLY £350??

I bought an Acer G24 for £300 over a year ago... is it just me or is the price of technology supposed to DECREASE.....

Not to mention the backlight bleed is ABSOLUTLEY terrible for a £300 LCD, if your games have lots of colours and are based during the day then you will have no problems, if you play games like Fallout 3 and run around at night time then you will be as ticked off as me for paying £300 on this LCD.

I would also like to say that the image OCuk have used misrepresents the product, all the colours are constant and it shows no backlight bleed :P.

Yeah, thats exactly the problem I had. Playing Fallout 3 was almost impossible, because the backlight bleed was so bad, that I could hardly see anything at the edges of the screen. This monitor wasn't worth the £320 it was back in february (i got mine on b-grade for £230) and it certinly isn't worth £350 now, unless Acer have secretly released a second revision with all the issues fixed, which I hightly doubt....

Although it's a 2ms panel (truly or with overdrive?) and a nice 1900x1200 resolution, it's still about £100 too expensive. I HATE the styling, though I'm sure 14 year olds will be crazy for it.

The OcUK price isn't bad though.

This monitor should be £250 brand new, no more because you can get so many other better monitors for such a lot less.

Hey!

I am far far older than 14 and I love my orange Acer G24 :).

I got it for £320 though. I dont have any problems with the backlight, but the vertical viewing angle is bad yes.

But I have no problem using it 24/7.

the backlight bleeding is only really bad when you're in a dimly lit room. if you have a lot of natural light in your room, you will hardly notice it.

you guys are lucky then. theres countless horror stories about the bleeding of this monitor, acer wont replace them just for bleeding either which is appauling for a monitor that is meant for gaming.

Yes i remember the thread on here about it i was one of the lucky ones i guess.

Yea, both the colour rendering and lighting are uniform and accurate on mine, every solid colour background I try has no bleeding. The only problem is the vertical viewing angle, you have to be sat directly in front of the thing at the correct height to see the image correctly.

My previous monitor was a 4 year old 19" sony X black that ended up with a dead backlight, and everything just ended up stuck on really high contrast :(.

It still works, but its just a bit too dark, which is a shame when I also spent £320 on that one just for its high brightness as well.

I look for 400+ CDM2 brightness, though stuff like dead backlights and backlight bleed obviously ruin that. Im glad that my G24 backlight and brightness are perfect.

I'll keep in mind though that Acer dont replace monitors with backlight bleed and buy a different one next time, but that wont be untill this one dies.

i think im going to phone Acer today and see what they say about this, because my backlight bleed is terrible.. and if you guys dont have it then surely they should fix it my issue?

I obviously dont have much expectation that they will but im going to give it a try... ill let you guys know what happens.
