Acer XB270HU - Worlds First IPS, 1440p, 144hz, Gsync

Considering my years old BenQ XL2410T has 0 dead pixels, cost me half that and isn't exactly a top end monitor. I wouldn't put up with a single dead pixel if I was paying £700 :/

Talk about expensive.. Here in denmark its 870 euros...what a tax.. It cost almost the same as the samsung 34" 1440p ultra wide. It was the same when the rog Swift just landed.. same exact price, 870 euros.. Now you can get the swift for 700 euros, still a lot of money though. I remember when the premium 120hz monitors popped up for real like the samsung s27a950d which was one of the more expensive units you could buy still wasnt more than 600 euros on launch and quickly dropped to around 450. Guess we have to play the waiting game if we want proper monitors without selling our kidney first.

Will OCUK do a pixel perfect service like they have with the Rog Swift?, if I had that peace of mind I'd seriously considering getting one.

I ended up going for this monitor. however I did cancel it to get a 2nd titan x, then I cancelled the 2nd titan x and ordered this monitor again. think the staff at ocuk are fed up with me lol.

I thought the DSR didn't exist now..?

I'd buy this if OcUK had some sort of warranty/guarantee for dead pixels.. I don't want a single dead pixel.

It still exists, just under a different name, Consumer Contracts Regulations, and it's actually better than DSR when you read up about it (more consumer focused). Have a look here.

Regards dead pixels, usually it's the manufacturer which will set such a policy. If OCUK did it they'd have to then deal with the manufacturer which could get messy if they refused to accept the return. I agree though, ALL monitors should come with such a guarantee straight from the factory. Along with zero bleed!

Just arrived, did some extensive testing and lots of wiping away little dust specks that I thought was dead pixels. However it appears there might be one tiny little dead pixel, visible on multiple solid coloured backgrounds. Nothing I would spot in a billion years without specifically looking for it like this. So I'm fine with that. Picture is fantastic, amazing colours.

Sorry to hear that it has a faulty pixel, but glad that it's fine in general. Mine won't arrive until Thursday :(

Can't comment much on blurring, responsive times etc. as I've spent most of my time searching for dead pixels. Played a few rounds of Hardline and it looked amazing, that IPS panel really shines and didn't notice anything other than a smooth, brilliant image.

Here's how it looks next to the ROG Swift

That picture on the swift is very fitting considering the new compition on the desk :P

PS: i take it you didnt find any dead/stuck pixels?

Found one, which was only visible with my nose practically touching the monitor, with a solid colour background and with the default calibration settings (which are very, very bright). Nothing I'd ever, ever see when gaming.

I must say, I had the Asus Swift and It cannot be beat for looks and design. My Acer should arrive next week Monday if all goes well.

Lets us know if the Acer is as quick or near as the Asus is as that is what hit me first when I had one as the pure fast response times were eye opening.

PS What are you going to do with your Asus now?

The Swift is beautiful and very well built. Can already tell you now, the Acer can't match that. I've been playing some Hardline at 90FPS / 144Hz and it's sharp, crystal clear and no blurring. The colours on the other hand are amazing, that IPS panel really shines. AG coating also seem a little lighter, so the picture is more vibrant it feels.

ArmA 3 does have some weird blurring (not the in-game blur from the options menu), however I'm not sure that game runs at 144Hz when playing? I need to investigate further.

And the Asus will now be a permanent secondary monitor. Two 27" looks better than my 27" / 32" TV setup I had before (for consoles).

Does it have a special Led indicator colour for when GSync is enabled?

No LEDs outside of the standby / on button.
