Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1 Speakers and no headphone socket

Hi guys
i have some Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1 Speakers and there is no socket for my headphones to go in to . is there anyway around this problem maybe some kind of add on ?

I don't see of any way of you getting an output from the AE's as they would surely have implemented it as standard if it was able to do it. I don't see how an add-on will do it. The only way i can think of you getting an output for both the speakers and headphones is by using a splitter on the output of your soundcard.
 
:D no problem mate u where just trying to help .if i where to use a splitter would that mean i would have sound coming out of the speakers and the headphones at the same time ? i was hoping to be able to plug the headphones in and that would shut the sound off from the speakers .
 
Yes, you would get sound from both the speakers and headphones. I think it would only be able to shut off the speakers if the headphone socket was built into the speakers themselves.

Do the headphones have an in-line volume control you could use to switch them from full off to on?
 
no .my headphones only have a wire and no in-line volume control .what about if i where to change the sound card to one them that comes with a box that slot it to the front of the pc case .is there anyway that would work ?
 
I'm not sure about the breakout box as i have never owned one. However, i would expect that it will only allow an output from one socket at a time. So the speakers could be plugged into the back of the sound card and then you could plug in the headphones in the front when you want to use them.

Sorry mate. Just a thought.

I've got the X-Fi Fatal1ty with the box on the front of the PC and when I plug my headphones into the jack on the box the sound from the speakers mutes automatically.

Incedentaly I was running the card with the Aego M's for a while (before I had to put them in the loft due to lack of space)and the sound from them was great. :)
 
Thanks Meths it was worth a try .how much did u pay for your card that has the breakout box ? had a look at the ones from OcUK but i cant see one with a breakout box :confused: . but it might be a risk to buy one only to find it wont work .yes the sound from the speakers is fantastic thats why i dont wanna change them
