Cooking someone Sweet and Sour Chicken for dinner tomorrow... cept they don't like eating veg.

What on earth else could I put in it to make it a bit more interesting that just chicken in a sauce?

Also, any interesting to spice up the rice a bit?

Or should I just say 'screw it' and cook a curry instead? :p

They don't like ANY veg at all?

Blimey...

Anway, I'd just put some veg in, onions, peppers, carrots etc.

If they really don't like any veg, try mushrooms, cashew nuts, water chestnuts or black beans. Maybe some beansprouts?

I would dice the chicken and coat with cornflour before frying in a wok (cantonese stylee). The sweet and sour can have sweet peppers onion and pinapple in it while cooking before it gets to the plate. Just don't put any on theirs.

The rice prepare about an hour in advance then put in the fridge to cool and dry a bit. When it's time throw a couple of eggs in a wok with a little oil then when almost cooked add the rice and stir fry. When the rice is up to heat sprinkle with some light soy sauce.

Pineapple works well in sweet and sour. If I make sweet and sour from scratch I normally make it out of a tin of pineapple chunks with the syrup, half a tin of chopped tomatoes and a little white vinegar to taste. Then add your pork or chicken and that's it, much healthier than out of a jar.

Don't forget the chilli.
