adsl contention

i'm currently on 2mb from pipex but during peak times i'm lucky to get 1mb speeds. i realise this is contention and there is bugger all i can do about it.

but what's going to happen when 8mb becomes the norm? are my speeds going to go even lower. or are pipex/bt suddenly going to upgrade their whole infrastructure to cope? i dunno....

Yes BT are in the process of Upgrading everything, Conention Ratios should stay the same but you have to remember that everyone have this increased amount of bandwidth will create a lot more load on webservers so the benefits may not be as good as they sound
