Hi.
Out of curiosity, would this work:
I have a Linksys WAG354G. The two machines that connected to it physically have Gigabit network controllers. And there is one wireless computer.

If i was to buy a gigabit switch, have the two physically connected computers connected to that switch, and then have the switch connected to the 354G; asuming that the 2 computers connected to the switch had the gateway IP from the 354G, would they work as they are now, but with faster transfers between the two? And still see the wireless client (& visa versa).
Would there be anything special i'd have to do on either device, apart from setting the Gigabit switch to have a static IP & setting it so that the switch & 354G were on the same subnet?

Thanks in advance.

yup it should work :)

Normal traffic (internal) would be routed through the switch at the maximum speed supported by the switch/pc's, with it only reaching the router when it's intended for the internet :).

setting the gigabit switch to have a static ip!!!, a managed gigabit switch would be at least £200 for a no-name piece of crap

Unless im mistaken, the Linksys 5port Gigabit switch in the clearance section of OCUK can be set to have a static IP, from what ive read anyway.

Doubt it, it would be transparent and unmanagable...Says nothing about an ip.

unlikely, but it is possible for it to have an ip. I remeber the old netgear unmanaged 24port switches with a web monitoring interface. A quick firmware change later and you had a managed switch for a third of the price :D
