adsl help, crappy phone line not copper

Hi , im finding it a nightmare tying to get orange (wanado) to orginise bt to send out an enginer, so i decided to open up the main phone line wall box thing. What i did notice was the insulating on the wire was black and then i saw that it only had 4 wires all were a aluminium colour.

There was a green white black and orange wire comming from it, but what i want to know is will i ever get ADSL working in this house?

i cant get cabel but the road next to ours has new houses and they can get adsl.
Will bt replace the whole line?

Unless there's a fault that's breaking your voice service, not likely.

You are not very clear in what the situaation is.
The non copper element will be found in the main cabling back to the exchange.
