If you have adsl and it was a bt-installed version when they used to fit a proper face plate etc, then it might be worth pulling the box apart and rewiring it as ive recently implemented this............its gained me around an extra 200k on my downloads and a better synch speed.

I should if noted my noise margins before but didnt really think i would get an improvement like this..

Oh and theres another side as well due to the lower noise levels my router hasnt been rebooted for over a week when normally its a daily thing.....Shoddy 834gt, im saving for a billion one

EDIT: now at 2 weeks plus..... i know this isnt impressive but it is when it was nearly every other day

Didnt get any replies first time around, but i was having to reboot nearly every other day, i knew this was down to line stats but i also thought it was probably down to the amount of data shifted down the line. Anyhow my line stats have improved to the point of adding 2mb to my synch speed.
Over 2 weeks uptime now, still shifting the same amount of data.

When i can afford it im going to get a billion router which will get me nearer the magic 20mb line apparently

What do you mean by rewiring it? is there another way to wire it up? or do you mean just check all the wires are in nice and tight.

Getting more expensive and better quality wiring and equipment will usually mean better stability and less line errors than with old wiring that has been there for a long period of time.

I got rid of an old extension cable and put the router straight in to the master socket (via filter) and gained about 2Mbps a while back IIRC. Sorting out internal wiring can do wonders, but make sure you know what you're doing before ripping out loads of cables :p
