Advice for basic setup

Hi all,

I have a Sony 40V3000 and a rig with a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 and a IP35Pro motherboard (with an optical out).

I wanted to get some advice about buying a cheap amp/speakers on eBay and the best way to hook it up.

I am assuming I need a 3.5" jack from my computer to the AV?

Use the optical out on the soundcard into the 930. BTW the 930 is a 12 year old receiver. It may well be towards the end of its days (it was a good receiver in its day though) & I'm aware that the remotes for that model (I used to own one) are not that reliable. The other 2 bids are for all-in-one setups which the 930 would be too powerful for & you would blow those speakers up if you turned up the wick too much.

Apparently it's the Realtek 7.1 HD audio. Is this better than the audigy 2? The audigy 2 doesn't have optical. Is optical better than analogue?

Yep. I'll wager the digital to analogue converters in the 930 are better than they are on the soundcard despite its age.
