its the 100 sx if that helps.

bloke wants £200 deposit now and rest beginning of next week. This will be my second car, im 21.

I heard that these cars are quite unreliable, which put me off one when I was looking for a car, not sure how true the statement was, but I have seen more than one pulled over at the side of the road with hazard lights flashing...

Nice colour though.

I like them, i drove a brava and i was more than pleased with it. they are not the most reliable cars, but have a look on the firat forum and there is a bravo.brava forum too. Just to get an idea of common faults etc.

Make sure the car has the red key though, if not its expensive if you ever need it.

Apart from the electrics they are not too bad. I have had a Brava and my Sis had the Bravo. There are much better cars around but you are unlikey to get anything as new as that for that sort of money. The key is maintenance with them, if you keep them surviced well you shouldn't get horror stories.

Well its just had a service and mot this month. think i may go for it

If i had 1400 to spend that would be way down my list, i'm afraid to say so far down it would be off the bottom of the page.

However if its the one for you go with it.

What would you get instead then?

I currently have a R reg Corsa 1.4 which im now selling as lots of things wrong with it and I wouldnt mind something different now.

My car needs electric windows and immobiliser purely because i want those things.

Suggestions please, might make new thread. got a budget of around £1500

I wouldnt mind something that looks quite nice like above, and pref a 3door, not keen on 5doors

I don't really know - personally I'd have a Mk2 Mondeo for that cash, but I guess it's not really what you want.

If you get a Ghia X, you get bundles of kit, air con, heated electric leather, 6 CD Changer, electric windows/sunroof, remote locking etc.

Easily within budget, too :)

well i quite like this one:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2000-W-Ford-M...06QQihZ019QQcategoryZ9844QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

but is over my budget by like £400 and cant really afford to do that, plus it sais its a GROUP 9 on my insurance where currently mine is a 3 so that will cost extra aswell.

Dont even think about a 1.6 mondeo no, no, no!!!!!

As for insurance groups. my example

0.899 cc Fiat Cinquecento group 1/2 2years NCB driving for 2years = £550 TPFT

1.8cc For Mondeo group 9 2 years NCB driving for 4 years = £598
FC
Hardly a huge increase but it was an extra two years driving experience.

so run quotes through insurance companies before you stop looking at cars.

I think its too much money, you could get a newer better spec one for the same or less.

Good little cars though, much more character than many of the other options. I dont see them as being unreliable, a look round the forums doesn't show any more problems than other marks, the odd electrical quirk aside. I think because Fiat has built some bad cars, people who know no better tend to tar them all with the same brush.

If I was going to spend £1500 on one I would look at a JTD, good engine, good economy and capable of 160-170hp with a remap.

TDF.

The Bravo is never going to be the most reliable car on the road I think we can can all agree on that. However if it has been looked after well and you continue to do so then they are not that bad. Fiats react very badly to being neglected so if your the type of person that puts off servicing for months on end it's defiantley not the car for you.

Also build quality can be erratic, the good thing about buying used you can see how well its worn and whether its been negleted. It will probably be no less reliable than your Corsa.

On the plus side they perform quite well and a very spacious for the size of car they are. They are also quite comfortable.
