[Advice Needed] A bit of a newbie!!

Hiya,

I've just bought the "Primo Intel Pentium 4 3.06GHz DDR2 System" from Overclockers. I was wondering if it is possible to install DDR ram aswell as DDR2 ram? Also, is it possible to use them both at the same time?

Thanks for any help, I am a bit of a newbie

Hi,

No mate you cant mix and match DDR and DDR2 ram. If the system currently has DDR2 Ram and you want to add some extra, you will need to purchase DDR2 Ram preferably of the same speed or vice versa.

My friend has one he can sell me - however, he isn't sure whether DDR or DDR2. Does anyone have any idea?

Samsung 1GB RAM 2rx8 pc2-3200u-333-10-81

I'm probaly just shooting in the air hoping someone might know. What if I try it and it turns out to be DDR as my other RAM is DDR2. What would happen?

Its DDR 1, check what your system is first, nothing would happen as DDR1 and DDR2 have a physically different slot so you wouldnt be able to plug it in anyways, google some basic computer stuff and read up on whats what
