Greetings,

I am currently using a 5 year old WD 500gb HDD for my primary C: drive. Currently i am only using 90gb of space on the drive and i have purchased an Intel 240gb SSD which i want to use as my new C: drive.

I have never cloned a drive before and would like some advice on procedure and software to use.

Currently I have 3 drives installed in my machine,

C: 500gb HDD (Used for Windows 7 and some software)
D: 1T HDD (Used for Games, Music, Software, Images, General storage)
E: 240gb SSD. (Used for games)

I plan on connecting the new drive (I'm guessing it will show as F: ) via SATA into the MOBO and cloning The C: drive on to the F: After it's cloned i plan on removing the C: 500gb HDD completly from my system and i would like to rename the F: drive to C: if possible.

Hopefully this is possible to do without to much effort. Any help is much appreciated.

Macrium Reflect Free for the software. There'll be loads of guides on how to use it if you have a quick search.

When you add the new drive there shouldn't be an automatically assigned drive letter because no partitions will exist. Macrium should be able to see the new drive even if you can't see it in the OS.
