im looking for an AGP 4x card, for around £80 mark. i know its dead money etc, but its for a friend who is only interested in getting a new gfx card.

Does anyone know if any of the AGP ATI Range from OC WILL definatly fit the 4x? there isnt much info on this.

If not i was looking at thisSAPPHIRE X1600PRO 512MB AGP[/url] for £86, i dont think thats too bad? It states 4x/8x interface so im assuming this is fine.

Any opinions or suggestions?

p.s no "upgrade PC comments".

Should do the trick. But really if u can only use AGP 4x and your spending 86quid on a card wouldnt a new mobo be a better solution or just saving and getting a strong rig when dx10 is up and going

If his motherboard is old enough to be pre-AGP8x, what CPU is he gonna be running in there? No point paying extra money if the card's gonna be CPU limited.

7600GT kicks ass. Used one for 6 months. Flew through almost everything I could through at it.

thanks very much guys.
And we're confident that both those cards (im looking at the leadtek), will run fine in the 4x agp slot? i dont know much about backwards compatibility, except some are limited because of working voltages.

If you want cheap but good, why not go for a 6600gt of the auction sites you can pick them up for £30 and they are cracking cards for the money.

Ive looked at a couple of these and bidded on an 6800 xtreme i think it was, it was started at £30 and got to £60 so i gave up.
I like the look of the leadtek card, excellent price i think with, brand new and with a warranty. cant go wrong :)

7600GT > 6xxx

You can't go wrong with it and yes it will definitely run at 4X. Almost all new cards will run on any AGP setting right down to 1X as I found out when I changed the BIOS setting somehow one day.
