Hi was the Gigabyte X38-DQ6 price from Overclockers, reason being there £164 and these only support DDR3 RAM.

Alternate try the Gigabyte GA-X38-DS5 @ £140.00 which supports DDR2, only reason I would try the X38 chipset would be the Dual 16 x PCI Express slots to run crossfire and is version 2.0.

If not then the Abit IP35 Pro, I'm running this board at the moment and cant't fault it, overclocked my Q6600 to 3.0 Ghz without problems.

Hope the above helps :)

There is 2 versions of the DQ6, X38 which is ddr2 (i can get this one for £145 delivered) & the X38T which is DDR3 and im not paying over £200 again for 2gb only for it to be worth £50 in 6months.

im guessing if the X38 has dual 16x slots then theres hacked drivers for sli too

I also just found somewere saying the new 8800gt is pci-e 2.0

I'm not sure regards hacked drivers, have not seen any posts over the graphics forum.

Between them all it depends if you want to pay the extra for X38, will you be thinking about using ATI or Nvidia for your graphics cards or going crossfire?

Overclocking not sure how good the X38 are compared to the P35. (if you are innterested in overclocking)

well ill be buying either a 8800GT or the G92 GTS when they come out on the 3RD so doubt i would ever use crossfire or sli (at least for a while)
I've seen somewere that the 8800GT uses pci-e 2.0 and dont know if it will effect it much? main thing im interested in is stability & overclocking tbh :)

PCI Express 2 is compatable with PCI Express 1.1, in terms of any performance loss I suspect would be questionable.

If your interested in overclocking I have seen many good views on the Abit board in terms of overclocking pertential and is being recommended for system builds.
