First off I'm not fighting a parking ticket :D But I'd be grateful if someone could point me in the direction of a site that can explain what legally constitutes a yellow line or "blip" on the side of the road. e.g. it's not valid if broken, etc :)

Many thanks :)

The condition of the yellow line is not critical if there is a sign nearby..

However, some have gotten away with it where the yellow line has been replaced by fresh tarmac...

I believe it must be a continuous yellow line, at each end it must have a stop line ie |------------------------------------------|

Otherwise it makes any tickets invalid.

I believe i saw some old guy on TV about 8 months ago fighting a parking ticket and i heard the above on whatever program it was on!!

i fought one and won, then parked dodgily the next week and got caught heh - justice on me probably, but i fought it on the basis that other cars were parked on the ends of the yellow and the bit i parked on was the middle of the yellow lines, but had been eroded. Took photographs and wrote a crappy letter and got away with it. 2nd time i took it on the chin as karma :)

similar thing, but what is the rule about parking within lines, is it something like the backwhhel must be within the parking space.

Or the whole car ?
