Hi guys,

Looking for a bit of advice if possible. I'm 21, 2yrs NCB, and I need an estate as I'm a DH MTBer and need to be able to take bikes and people places...saloons no good! I've been driving a Focus 1.9 TDCI. Budget upto 4 maybe 5k. I enjoy driving and don't relish the thought of having to drive something utterly lame... Running costs quite important though as I won't be doing a high mileage servicing etc as important as fuel tbh.

Currently looking Honda Civic Aerodeck VTI's - plenty of good ones for 3-4k, insurance is OK (even tho group 15 -I've checked). Reasonable economy, detuned DC2 engine (still ~170bhp), not bad to drive so far as I can see.

Octy VRS just out of budget I think.

Any advice or suggestions etc. welcome.

Ford Mondeo Estate 2.0TDI 130 Zetec, 2004, 52,000, £4995 No left-field thinking needed here: follow the pack and go for either the Mondeo or Vectra. Both are very capable, but we'll side with the Mondeo for the quality of its drive. And as there's so many around, you can afford to be picky, and bargaining a good deal should be easy.

Mondeo ST24 Estate + change
Mondeo ST200 Estate
Mondeo Zetec-S V6 Mk3 Estate

I reckon I'd probably take the ST200.
