Advice Required: Can I use PC Speakers for PS3?

I basically want good 5.1/7.1 speakers to use for my PS3 and was not sure if i can just connect the speakers straight to the PS3?

Would really appreciate your help

i think you'ld need some type of splitter to let an RCA jack fit a 3.5mm hole for component output, but other than that probably yes. For HDMI it'd prob be a "No"

I know the PS3 can accept optical but I wasnt sure if pc related speakers support optical or need a sound card to get dolby digital etc?

those support optical as far as i can tell..... Dolby® Digital, DTS®, and DTS®, 96/24

thanks for the help after looking into the specs more I think they support everything I want mods can lock/close thread if they want
