i got A 1999 V reg mondeo 1.8TDI in silver

16inch mondeo "bigbar" alloys so on

Anyway the bloody cambelt snapped other day, the car was just ticking over on the drive,I was going to tax it that day, Atm the car owns me 300 quid.

What kind of damage would have been caused, I took the cover off to see if there was any damage to the cam, seems ok.

ive been quoted 300 quid to have new belt kit with all the new wheels etc, new Headset with the head skimmed, new valves all fitted and fixed for 300.

Do i scrap the car or fix it? or sell it on ebay as salvage.

300 + 300 ? = 600

surely a V plate mondy is worth that, so id get it repaired, as long as its not cosmetically screwed or done 200k

even be tempted myself for 600 :shifty:

its done 109k, it did drive nice and the engine was sweet and quiet as far as dervs go.

its just the hassle of getting the car to the garage to be fixed.

I just paid £1k for a T reg Mondeo TD (that has just had a new head & cambelt) shell out the £300 on fixing it and keep it imo!

Do you want to be out of car & pocket or don't you?

depends on MOT, if its out of MOT soon and itll cost a wedge to put thru, ontop of the 300 may notbe worth it, 12 monther tho, no reason why not to? as long as itll be ok once sorted

its just past its mot, i dont really need the car 100% i have 2 others already.

this was going to be my new comute car, to replace a rover 600 SDI
