HI All

Returning to custom pc builds after nearly 20 years!!!

My 1st stab at a pc aimed at work and gaming below - my budget is flexible - I'm after great performance for gaming and work (mostly excel, power BI, email, word docs, MS.teams etc.

Would welcome any component advice, and a sanity check that everything is compatible....

In terms of monitor I'm drawn to the Samsung Neo g9, massive yes, the specs look good and I really like the idea of ultrawide..

I would switch to a 12700K because it will offer nearly identical performance in gaming and the work you mentioned.

Does the board need to be white? If not, I'd go with the MSI Z690-A which is available at £160. Don't know if you need the wifi?

Do you require RGB on the memory?

Do you not have an old Windows 7, 8 or 10 key somewhere? You can upgrade to 10 from 7 or 8, then 10 to 11.

Thanks for the response
Board doesn't need to be white = was looking at white theme for the pc is all.
Same with RGB on the RAM - aesthetic only
Don't have a Win OS - been using macs for years (save my work laptop)

if you want white board, could actually go for the B660 Strix Gaming A. Still get a gen5 pcie slot for gpu and 3 gen 4 nvme slots
put the phanteks 1000w psu in..similar price to the rm850x am guessing, still good with 10yrs warranty and extra power should help with power spikes, and hopefully do next gpu upgrade
Used same case etc
SN850 has a bundle offer here with 2tb HHD...
other option 2tb SN850 can be had for £230 or could go for something like a 2tb SN770(gen4) for £175, which is more than good enough for gaming and excel etc
if you want white ram can get 32gb 3200C16 pro vengeance rgb sl for £130 or £140 for for non sl(sl being low profile) or can get 32gb vengeance rgb rt 3600C16 for £145
