Age of Empires III - 10p. Yes. 10p.

When you play games bought through Games for Windows, do you need to have the GFW client running all the time like with Steam?

Or is it like the EA Store where you don't have to?

Nice find OP. :)

But I need some help. I have the abomination that is GFWL on my C drive for some reason. This is my OS SSD.

I don't want GFWL on my C drive. The fact that it is an MS programme worries me though.

I should be able to unistall it then reinstall onto my games drive? I hope so or I am stuffed. :(

Interested in that too.

I may buy this game for 10p just to test out this GFW service in case a game I do want comes up on there at a good price in future.

First impressions, I installed the client, opened it up and boom, I got a blue stop screen

Just rebooted, looked again, this time it worked but while looking at a screenshot in the shop, I got a CTD error - this application has to close etc. :D

If it's that flaky I don't think I want it on all the time :)

Yes you can set all the different paths inside the GfW client.

No you just launch from the Games Explorer in Vista/7.

And in XP? :p Just like a normal installed game is it? From the start menu etc.

Although if the client crashes in XP then the simple act of downloading the game in the first place may prove tricky :/

Well on 7 it hasn't created a separate Start Menu entry but I guess you can always create your own shortcuts. But you definitely don't need the GfW client running.

Done it again. I am disappoint. I think I'll pass.

Picked this up and paid with MS points, which at the price I paid for the points worked out at less than 10p

Wonder what I'll do with that couple of coppers I just saved.
