aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh new X850 XT does not work

Just installed my X850xt and it wont play games! When I try toca 3, which was working with my 9800pro it worked, but when I click on test settings in toca 3 where it tests the refresh at 60hz (my lcd max) it does not show the spinning cube and crashes

I have installed the drivers which came with the card?

Whats wrong i wanna cry!!!

Do i need to do anything in bios?

yeah the power lead is in, uninstalled old radeon drivers

right just use drivercleaner. took the case cover off, removed the power cable, booted, which it says please insert power lead. so i no it aint power. went into bios and changed agp aperature is it, from 128mb too 256mb to match my card. now going to install drivers. if this dont work, in the box and back to ocuk!

nope keeps saing on monitor power saving mode, i can hear the music but the picture goes? I can exit the game blinding and it goes back into windows fine? Whats you recon is causing it?

it is even doing it on media centre, it causes the screen to turn off.

i think the card is faulty? I can watch live tv on MCE2005 for a couple of secs, then the picture goes?!?!?!? just basically anything which gets rendered full screen, after a couple of secs the screen goes blank, but i can still hear sound

My Powercolor X850xt is with Overclockers - I am waiting for a replacement. The card was not cooling and fragmenting in any game!

Send it back!

if it turns out to be duff, cant be doing with problems, someone posted the other day an issue with his powercolor 850XT, maybe its a carp card? Never used Powercolor, had a HIS before, which has been rock solid. Have not even used the thing which pees me off, spent £180 on Monday, and wont get that back until after they test it upto 10 days later. Not OCUK issue though, just would be nice to receive a quicker turn around!

Do you think if i ask them, to test the new one they will send out before, i receive it?

Sent it back now, you can lock the resolution. It was defo a fault, because if I opened windows MCE 2005, it would be okay, then the screen would turn off unpredictably, might be 50 secs, then instant etc.


Same with games, could get to the main menu of Toca, get into a game, then same thing. Other times it would do it as soon as it launched.

This did not affect Windows itself, if I pressed the windows key, the desktop would come up and be okay.

Good luck as if it turns out it isnt faulty they'll charge you, and won't refund the postage you spent sending it back, and also they'll charge you postage again for returning it back to you.

Could be faulty though if its starting fine then all of a sudden going blank at any time.

Well it is not working in my machine, I have the full system required, as per the specs on the box, updated BIOS etc, installed from a bare installation of Windows. If it turns out not to be faulty, then they are misrepresenting a product, should it only work on certain PC configurations dont you think other than whats on the box? I will be getting my money back/replacement card

I know its screwed, or I would not have sent it back!

I think that based on what you guys are saying that ther emust be a poor batch of these cards and that Overclockers need to be made aware of this and to respond appropriately.

I am going to call them and ask for a refund , then buy the Nvidia one mentioned in previose post. erm better write it down!
