AGP 9700 vs modern cards

Sorry about being a bit slow but I would just like to thank everyone who responded for their input. Sorry if the original post came over as a bit ambiguous. Your answers covered my intended question and then some... :)

I thought it'd be a bigger difference then that. I had a 9800pro clocked to xt speeds and it seemed much slower then the 6600gt i have now.

Far cry is pretty forgiving maybe
 
just to put my pennys worth in, I had a 9700pro before I upgraded to a 6600gt
AGP and the GT made the 9700 look like a mx440. There was a big diffrence in
quality from 9700 to 6600gt. But having said that the 9700pro was a good card
I have now used it in my kids PC, they happly play COD2 with out any problems.
Sold the 6600gt to get the money together for my first 7900gs.
I sold the GT because it was only a couple of months old and would get more funds than I would have got if I sold the 9700pro.
And I have to say trying to compaire a 9700pro with a 7900gs is insane
the 7900gs is in a diffrent class all together.

x1300pro is the equivalent to a 9700pro according to a lot of sites. I had a 9700pro and from benchmarks I've seen with a x1300pro on 3dmark05 and 06, I can vouch for this being very accurate. So I assume with yours being non-pro that an x1300 standard AGP would be nigh-on identical. This would put you on a £55 price point (roughly) - at this price point (or a little extra) there are better cards to buy. Hope that helped and please, correct me if I'm wrong :p
