Can anyone tell me if the X1950 Pro 512 is faster than the 7800GS+ 512. Are there any comparison fps tests anywhere ? Looking to get one of these, but only if I can expect a decent increase in fps over the 7800GS+ 512

A 256MB X1950 Pro is slightly faster than a 256MB 7800GS.

A 512MB X1950 Pro is slightly faster than a 256MB X1950 Pro.

So it stands to reason that a 512MB X1950 Pro is slightly faster than a 512MB 7800GS :)

the way that reads to me sounds like you already have the 7800gs+? if that's the case then do not get the x1950pro. it'll only be a sideways step. infact i don't even know how the 2 cards compare yet. it maybe that the 7800gs+ is faster? it would interesting to see them tested using the same hardware. of course their are plenty of x1950pro vs 7800gs results out there but none with these gainward 20/24 pipers.... :p

I think the 1950pro well the HIS at least can beat a 7800+ and i think they can get up to 7900GT results compared.

Be honest tho if your on a 7800+ dont bother, it wont be worth it. Except maybe for EATm when it comes out.

Not From My Experience

I got a 7800gs+ water cooled and I tried out a diamond 1950pro sent it back
Hear were the results this was using fears test settings and from game play was choppy like bad stop motion animation missing a lot of frames

The x1950 was choppy and sluggish in fears test performance every thing on Maximum video and sound Min 16 Avg 30 Max 59 Below 25fps 38% 25fps to 40fps 42% above 40fps 20%
Compare to the gainward of 18 32 60 and 16% 62% 22% over cocked it to 497 and 1.39 the sample I have will not do any better and its now at 27 43 61 and 0% 45% 55%
The X1950 refused to over clock at all would lock up or I have a bottle neck ran at like 75c. Theres got to be a limit to those ddr3 1.4 chips unless you got exceptional samples on you card that going to be a hit or miss

I have one BFG 7800gs oc that will run 497 and 1.43 coolbits has detected like a lot higher and tried a lot more combinations from and up to 525 and 1.49 but would lock up some where in a game some time in minutes or would go for a hour and it runs at 45c with the stock cooler this did better than the diamond but went through 3 cards to get this one

7800 GS+ is just a 7900 GT, and the x1950 pro is only faster by about 3fps or so, not worth it at all if you already have the 7800 GS+, not for 3fps more anyway, you'll not notice them.

I know but in my case the 7800 did better

in your case yes..... it seems the x1950pro suffers more when paired up with an antiquated rig such as yours (sorry :p)

and when you take into account cost, the x1950pro is much better value for money. the cheapest 512mb 7800gs+ i've seen is well over 200 sheets. my 512mb x1950pro cost me 152. :)

and looking at other people's benchmarks using a 7800gs+ with better agp hardware, my x1950pro beats all the results i've seen.

As said above, if you already have a 7800GS+ then there's no point in getting an X1950Pro. If you have neither though, the X1950Pro takes the cake and eats it on price alone.

 That just dont seem right, with stock cooler im able to overclock to 570/1.49 and still pass thorugh all gfx tests without any issues + temps are good? I run 550/1.40 overclock 24/7 (allthough tbh have two 120mm fans sucking air away from it for added cooling)

Same here (June 2006), tbh dont see what your reply to my post is refering to with regards to the GS+ clock speeds?

On the gainward 7800gs+ seems there are 2 versions a upc # of 718462 007876 clock of 450 and 1250 infenion mem and upc # 718462 007739 clock of 425 and 1250 samsung mem

any body have any info

Well I have both cards,a gainward 7800gt 512 AGP(24 pipes limited edition) and a HIS 1950 pro 512 AGP.

I bought the HIS for it's higher clock speed to play ArmA,but after only a few days the card started artifacting (i believe the card is clocked to high) so now i'm about to RMA it.

So i reinstalled my Gainward card and that's clocked to 580/1.40 with Riva Tuner and is rock solid and temp's don't go above 65c full load.

TBH the image quality appeared to be better with thi ATI card but stability is the thing you need,so when i get a replacement for the HIS card i'm not sure what i'll do with it..cracking price though and yes it is slightly faster than the Gainward card.

From reading on the forums I belive the HIS X1950Pro's are to be avoided unless that was not the case with rev2 or something.

Is there much of a difference in the Gainward BLISS 7800GS+ 512 Mb "Goes Like Hell" card and the other models available? If I remember correctly this version had "something extra" compared to the other editions that came out at the time?

I think the "Goes Like Hell" is for the factory overclocked versions.
