Airport Extreme : Is it just a bit rubbish

One other thing I just remembered sometimes the extreme decides it can't be detected but switching to other band and then running the airport utility it is instantly detected e.g. if I'm connected to the 5GHz band I switch to the 2.5GHz and hey presto it'll appear in the airport utility and vice versa. Might be worth a try.

Noted:

Will have another try with my mate tonight, if not maybe book a genius meeting at Milton K's Saturday morning and see if they can shed any light...

They might offer to replace even though it's old as I have heard some nice stories about their support..

Thanks for the tips

Actually I think I remember reading that if you have a Mac then Apple Care is extended to the extreme for the duration of your active Apple Care.

That would be a result as I have a brand new MBP so...

I'll take that with me Saturday ;)

Thanks guys

Just found this!

Comprehensive coverage
The AppleCare Protection Plan covers your Mac, as well as an AirPort Extreme Card,
an AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme Base Station, and Apple RAM used with your
Mac. Mac mini, Mac Pro, Power Mac, MacBook Pro, and PowerBook customers may also
register one Apple display for coverage, provided that the Mac and the display are
purchased together.

Another Edit: Only if brought at or after the MBP? Pfff will wait until I'm had my genius meeting at the weekend

Well I took it to Milton K's and they confirmed it's faulty, at least I know it wasn't me being tick!

Offered a replacement at £88 but on 3 months warranty, for £101 I can get a refurb unit with a years warranty so i think I might do that!

Thanks for the post's and idea's etc guys...

Virgin pushed out a new firmware for my Super Hub. Before the update I was getting great speed but after the update, it just dropped. They said to change the channel it was broadcasting (apparently it causes interference on certain channels) and it worked a charm. Not sure if this is something that might apply to you?

Got a refurb Extreme from Apple, worked straight out the box, is there a preferred ADSL router to go with these or is it anything that has a stable dsl connection?

Best way to setup, turn DHCP off on the ADSL router and let the AE deal with everything?
