Hi,
Quick question.

Purchased the AK-965 Cooler, which came with a thermal pad already applied.

Would you recommend removing this pad and applying the Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound or leaving with the standard pad?

CPU is a 6550. Overclocking to 3ghz gives temps of around 70-75 degrees on Orthos testing.

Bit of a noob with this overclocking so all opinions gratefully received.

Thanks

Personally I'd clean it well with proper cleaning fluid, dry it with a clean dry cloth and apply the AS5.

With temps like that though you might need to drop the voltages or get a better cooler.

Thanks,
Done that. Cleaned the CPU and heatsink and gone to stock everything.

Applied the rice grain size of AS5 in the direction shown on the Arctic Silver website.

Temps still high under load. Around the 70oC range.

Have ensured the AK-965 is sat correctly.

Do temps generally fall once the AS5 has bedded in? Never used AS5 before.

Thanks
