Akasa Eclipse 62's Club... Desktop & Machines.

I noticed this too, mine has 2 very large holes, has the design changed since i bought mine years ago?

The Akasa Eclipse Case changed the removable motherboard tray layout from two vent holes to one about 6 months ago, all Akasa's are now shipping with one vent hole on the motherboard tray, unless you get sent cases from old stock. I must admit I do prefer the tray with the two vents as cabling is easier to manage.

What an odd thing to do.

I certainly see no reason for it. The top hole's handy for routing the 24 pin 12v cable and the floppy cable. And the bottom one is a godsend for SATA and IDE cables.

Agreed.. found my original easier to build with the extra vent, kept cables hidden better..:)

Aye, posted at work ;)

Thats what the inside of mine looks like so I was slightly mistaken >.< nice with the 3 gaps, alas the holes don't seem to be THAT usefull where they are ¬_¬" maybe with some patience and longer cables they could be persuaded to be an asset but not atm :<

Ah!! 3 vents, should keep the motherboard nice and cool, any internal pics Pea0n..;) looks a  build...:D

Hey guys,

Sorry being off topic, if you have to chose between this and Antec 900, which one would you go with? In terms of cooling as well?

Definetly the Akasa, offers a lot more room and cooling properties over the Antec 900...;) tha Antec still has a lot to offer, but the Akasa in my view pips it to the post...

quick up date, motherboard tray has been sent to the powdercoater, should have that back in about a week or so.

next things on my list of changings are to make the hdd a bit more quiet, tried reversing them aswel to hide the cabling more but the cabling seemed to give me a lot of trouble, not a lot of room to tidy the cables so its a really tight fit so i have decided to leave them as they are.

also got to cut a hole for the PSU leads to fall out of and last but no means least think i will change the standard fans to some (7v) sharkoon's :)

Is powder coating very expensive to get done, been thinking about doing a few panels myself..

I really wish I had those 3 holes in my motherboard tray as it would be so much easier to tidy up my cabling but I only have the one at the bottom right which is pretty much useless for cable routing. I'm loathe to cut them out myself but I am getting a little tempted by the prospect of doing so and also considering maybe drilling a small hole towards the near rear side of the PSU to enable easy fan wire cabling so I don't have to keep removing the PSU to pull out the Motherboard tray.

Anyway been a while since I last posted pictures of my Mirage setup and it's been updated a fair bit recently so here are a few:

I still need to tidy up the cabling a bit better but I plan to get an 3HDD Icy Box to keep my HD's in maybe towards the end of next month so I can tidy up a bit when I install it.

Nice transformation.. Good to see a CRT again :D Still got my CTX 19" for gaming, you definetly get deeper and richer colour in games over the TFT's (seen a lot of TFT's playing the top titles, and most look washed out) a lot of people are still trying to source CRT's for gaming as they give superior colour and response time for applications (Games especially)

my advice would be to get some strong drill bits. theses motherboard trays are gits to drill and cut. hoping to get my tray back from the powdercoater *ha sounds like a superhero :p* some time soon, expect pics and some better cable management :D:D

Never seen a powder coated Akasa Eclipse Motherboard tray, looking forward to pics...

depends on the type of finish i get on the mobo tray, as the mirage is already black :p however i have another case mod that might be happening soon, just waiting for some details to get back to me;)

I know the mirage is black..:D I asked because most powdercoat finishes have a matt effect, where as the retail paint on the Eclipse's are of a gloss finish...;) give us a hint on your next projo...

wooooo

for a short period of time, im in your club :D

i have to say this case is beyond my expectations.

It is a DREAM to paint! screw, screw, twist, click and every paintable panel is off :D

the biggest let down is the cheapie front panel, but apart form that i love it

I have used pretty much every case on the market and this is up there with the best

R B Customs welcome.... A complete re-design of the front panel of the Akasa is definetly due, I was hoping the "V2" of the Eclipse was going to produce some welcome changes.. Mabey "V3" eh!!! ;)

ran in to a bit of trouble :(

the guy said that it cant be done (confused a little, waiting for some more info) HOWEVER from what he can gather, one of the trainee's had started filing and sanding the Tray so in effect has broken it :p been told they can try and spray it or they will try and source a new motherboard tray for me.

Doh!

How can they break the motherboard tray just doing a powdercoat, the Akasa's motherboard tray is a pretty strong piece of kit... Sorry to hear the bad news M8...

Just joined the club! - very nice case and a good airflow.

Cables need a little sort out but that can wait til I get a few more SATA cables.

* Had to change the orientation of the GFX cooler. It was getting a little too hot!

* Move the GFX cooler but had to also move one of the heatsinks as it got in the way!

Not sure if anyone else had a little trouble lining up the motherboard with the case? - I have a little gap between the backing plates and all the ports on the back of the motherboard? - Can post a pic if you have no idea what I am talking about!

Excellent build... would be interested to see the gap you mentioned?? did your PCI cards allign with the back of the case screw holes ok, enabling you to screw the cards to the back of the case.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Here is a pic (or two) of the gap I was talking about!

My GFX card for example does not line up with the screw holes to keep it in place... I have to give it a little squeeze to line it up and the screw it down.

Do you have any GFX card allignment pics with the back of the case, just to see how far the card and screw holes are off..;)
