Hi Folks im thinking of ordering the Akasa Freedom tower but just wondered how to go about applying thermal paste with these yokes as they use direct contact heat pipes and hence the 'grain of rice' method probably won't work that well. Do you have any advice you could offer me when it comes to applying thermal paste in conjunction with these type of coolers? I always used the grain of rice method when applying TIM to the heat spreader but im sure this won't work very well with the Freedom tower. Thanks in advance :)

What do you use a grain of rice for? Can't be that good for the paste... but the pea method should still hold true, none of them have any real influence on temperatures. Depending on the chip a line across the cores might be more efficient, but whatever you want really.

Also, how are you finding the cooler?

Hi guys I ended up going for the Akasa Aurora which is a great cooler :) By 'grain of rice' I mean the quantity of thermal paste you would apply is equal to the size of a grain of rice. lol ! Used MX-2 and was very impressed having always used AS5 in the past.
