Might put some of this stuff to quieten my A16 down a bit.

What is the Akasa stuff like? It looks quite thin comapred to the stuff that Acousti sell, but thats 3 times the price nearly.

past comments i've seen (last year i think) have all said it did little in terms of quietening the case and upped the temps a bit. also it is difficult to remove cleanly. what is causing the noise in your case? might be worth isolating the fans, replacing them with more efficient units/coolers etc.

Just thought I'd say when I enter this thread I get a "enter your username and password box" pop up.

I Don't. Are you at work by any chance? Maybe a sig or something is being blocked. That or you've got a nice bit of spyware...

PK!

EDIT: ahh, that'll be why. Ignore this....

I mightn't bother then.

Components are about as quiet as they can be tbh, 3 Yate Loons @ 7v, Tiniq Tower @ lowest setting, and a VF900 @ 5v. With a Tagan PSU and just 1 hard drive.
I think a lot of it is down to the case being aluminium, I feel they have a certain "whuuring" noise associated with them, compared to steel cases.

I have an Antec P150 next to it, with 3 hard drives and similar fan setup and it's considerably quieter than the Lian Li.

i did the whole isolating thing, found it to be my CPU HSF, so im chucking that one out and getting something to do it passively, it should decrease the noise by half (have stopped it briefly the only other thing i could hear was the HDD)

i suggest this is what you do, it will save you time and money ;)

Except he has a Tuniq Tower with the fan at the lowest setting (around 800rpm and very quiet) not the stock Athlon 64 cooler...

I didn't like akasa paxmate, temps up 20degrees and no quitening of the case :(

just a word of warning once you put this on your case it isnt coming off

Very true, though it does start to come off with some intensive tar remover I got from halfords.

The only one worth bothering with is Acoustipack Deluxe from what ive read, and then, only if you have done EVERYTHING else possible.

The hardest part to silence are hard drives, suspend them, enclose them or whatever, before you even think of any acoustic material tbh.

I fit some paxmate to my eclipse as there was a slight resonation in the panels that i couldn't quite pinpoint. It did a great job and was better than messing around with bits of blue tack etc. I only used it as i got it really cheap from a mate and wouldn't recommend buying it at the price it retails for.

I didn't see a temp rise at all not even 1oc.

Or suspend and enclose like i have done :D .

I had suspended hard drives in my Antec P150 until that is they snapped .

The A16 has a rubber mounts for the hard drive, which are ok really.

I might try and mount some foam/insulation underneath the case - that might stop a bit of the sound resonation without the temerature hike.

There was a thread on hear a while ago, where the guy put blu tac on the inside edges of his pc-7 panels and apparently it worked wonders, have you tried rubber gromets for the fans to stop them vibrating?
