Aldi are selling a satellite reciever for 39.99 and advertise it can pick up all the free to view channels from many satellites, including Sky's Astra.
Doesnt Sky scramble the main channels like BBC and ITV from its Astra though, as you have to buy a freesat card off of them for 20 quid to decode it ?

So I take it that this satellite reciever from Aldi will only pick up things like Bid Up and Price Drop etc etc

IIRC all you can get free to air ( no card needed) are the BBC channels and the ITV channels, not even channel four or five they both need a viewing card I believe.

Glad I didnt buy one, was tempted but walked out with several packets of Malt Crunchies (Shreddies cerial) instead .

I got in contact with Sky, and all the BBC, ITV etc terrestrial channels are encrypted from the Astra satellite, so a card would be needed. This reciever had no card slot !!!!

Astra isn't the only satellite you know, and even if you can't get what you want, there are plenty of unencrpted channels about with interesing stuff one ;)

Pick up a copy of "what sattelite" from your newsagent
